Tips for Enhancing Memory

Tips for Enhancing Memory

In worklife, there are times when we want to recall some detail and we can't. For Example, name of peer/ client, schedule/ venue or time of an important meeting. In most of the cases, we can significantly improve it by following a few simple tips.

1. Higher the depth of processing, better the recall: The more you think, reason, and comprehend, better the likelihood that you will retain and recall it later on. Good memory is a state of the active mind.

2. Interest and importance: When you are really interested, you pay greater attention and your brain releases chemicals to form deeper "symbol systems" that store memory.

3. Relaxed mind controls anxiety: Learn with a relaxed mind. Recall the learned material with a relaxed mind. High anxiety levels can impair ability to concentrate which limits the recall. If we are too anxious during an interview, we may not recall what we know very well.

4. Faith: If you believe you have a poor memory, your brain will do everything to prove you right.

5. Depressions impair the interest levels and joy in life events. As a result too little energy is left to recall anything. We often hear this phrase "I have lost my mind” when the mind is agitated.

6. Use your favorite sensory channel: Use symbols, Acronyms, Colours and shapes to store and represent information. If you prefer, discuss something with peers. More you process the information, lesser the chance that you would forget it. Use a combination of your sensory systems to stay organized and focused.

Random Thought

Random Thoughts

Last week, while I was studying for my exams and busy preparing notes for my project my mind just pondered on a thought; why is it that we are always in a hurry to do something or the other? Why is it that we never stop for a while and think about how much we are missing in our lives!! We are so engrossed in our own life that we keep on missing life’s small joys and cheerful things.

Life is full of joyful and happy events which we should not miss even for a second. Think for a second, leave whatever you are doing right now and think. Think you are standing in a beach, blue skies when you look above, soft waves touch your feet, you feel the sand softer beneath your feet and the cool air around you just embraces you, where no one is there to disturb you, no meetings, nothing! Imagine that you are on a mountain top, it’s raining slightly, where cool breezy air kisses your cheeks, lifts your hair in a bounce!! All greenery around you, you soak in the air and take a deep breath…, hmmm…, sounds nice, isn’t it?? :) This is what I say is life!

But is it necessary that we always need a vacation to be cheerful in life? There are many small things in life which we ignore like for example people who travel in local trains would know, kids who accompany their moms esp. girls :) the way they talk, act, laugh everything about them makes you smile. The thought of kids brings smile to my face:)
Many of them I know are never interested in watching any ads while watching T.V. programs. But for just one day instead of skipping the ads if you watch it you would find it interesting enough esp. the latest ads of Vodafone about their promotional offers, the Zoozoos in the ad or the Max New York Life Insurance ad where the kid repeats words told by his father! Just the thought about the ad brought a smile to your face, isn’t it? :) I knew it. Just for one day you take a day off and spend the day with your family, you would notice the change.

Life is very short and we need to keep this in mind live it to the fullest. You never get a second chance. Like Abraham Lincoln said “And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.”

A Date To Be Remembered !!

I came across this article in one of my mails ... just moved my heart ...

A date !

After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie.

She said I love you but I know this other woman loves you and would love to spend some time with you.

The other woman that my wife w anted me to visit was my MOTHER, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.

That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.

"What's wrong, are you well," she asked? My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.

"I thought that it would be pleasant to be with you," I responded. "Just the two of us."

She thought about it for a moment, and then said, "I would like that very much."

That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed t hat she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary.

She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel's.

"I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed, "she said, as she got into the car. "They can't wait to hear about our meeting".

We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat down,

I had to read the menu. Large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips.

"It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small," she said.

"Then it's time that you relax and let me return the favor," I responded.

During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation - nothing extraordinary, but catching up on recent events of each other's life. We talked so much that we missed the movie.

As we arrived at her house later, she said, "I'll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you." I agreed.

"How was your dinner date?" asked my wife when I got home. "Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined," I answered.

A few days later, my mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I did to do anything for her.

Some time later, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place mother and I had dined.

An attached note said: "I paid this bill in advance. I wasn't sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son."

At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: "I LOVE YOU!" and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve.

Nothing in life is more important than God and your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till "some other time"

Love you forever !!

Hey I really love you You mean the most to me

If words were just enough
You would know it is real
But words cannot measure
How you do make me feel

I don't want no body else
For you're my only desire
My soul only aches for you
No way can love be higher

I want to tell you the truth
But I cannot find the time
I want to open up my heart
And allow you to be mine

When you are around me
My heart is beating so fast
If only you'd understand
I know that we could last

Hours feel like seconds
And years feel like a day
For when I am with you
The time just flies away

For you my love, I'd die
Just to prove that I am true
I'd pick out all of the stars
And give them out to you

I could rip out my heart
And for you take the pain
For then I wouldn't ache
When I hear your name

I'd run across the sea
Or fly far into space
Or walk on the desert
Just to see your face
I'd jump into a fire
And I'd run a mile
All of this I would do
Just to see you smile
If it was life or death
Death is my choice
I'd walk to my grave
Only to hear your voice

Every night I dream of you
And you sit and talk to me
When I wake I only smile
Thinking maybe it could be
I'm dying for you
This love will never sever
If you exist only in dreams
Then I will sleep forever

Proud To Be An Indian !

Its been months since i updated my blog...
and finally i got a topic!

It was just last week when i had been to my Doc for a usual health check-up i came across a magazine called 'ASIA MONEY'.It was an old issue(September 2007).I was just going through the articles since am into recruitment and i keep myself updated on banking, mutual funds, investments and the share market.

There was one article which made me wonder just how much India has made progress in the last few decades! The article was about the top 100 businessmen in Asia.I couldn't believe it .. it was Ratan Tata in the first place followed by Mukesh Ambani in the fourth place. There were a lot of Indians in the list.At that moment i realized soon enough India will be recognized as a developed country rather than a developing country.

We just criticize when we get chance at the Indian infrastructure, the govt.,the people etc here.Have you ever wondered if it hadn't been for these people, we won't be even recognized anywhere in world.Today if people all over the world recognize us its because of such people who have helped India gain such a position in such a competitive world!

you would even argue that whether the infrastructure has reached everyone? well that's right it has not reached but that doesn't mean it is not going to reach each and every person in India.give some time, you will realize that India is making progress in a way you have never known!why complain... if you feel that something is wrong in your society then start by correcting it.If not that at least stop complaining because just complaining is not gonna help!you will ask what have i done.. well at least i don't complain at first place.

Stop complaining, start making difference to the society!
Make India proud and be proud to be an Indian !
